Abstract

Matematika memiliki peran yang sangat strategis dalam membentuk dan memperkuat literasi serta pemikiran kritis peserta didik di era pendidikan modern. Sebagai disiplin ilmu yang memadukan logika, abstraksi, dan penalaran sistematis, matematika tidak hanya mengajarkan prosedur hitung, tetapi juga melatih kemampuan menganalisis, mengevaluasi, dan memecahkan masalah secara kritis. Literasi matematis mencakup kemampuan individu dalam merumuskan, menerapkan, dan menafsirkan konsep matematika dalam konteks kehidupan nyata. Sementara itu, pembelajaran matematika melalui pendekatan pemecahan masalah, realistic mathematics education, dan project-based learning terbukti secara empiris mampu meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa secara signifikan. Penggunaan teknologi digital seperti GeoGebra dan platform adaptif turut memperkaya pengalaman belajar yang mendorong eksplorasi dan penalaran mendalam. Artikel ini mengkaji secara komprehensif kontribusi matematika terhadap penguatan literasi dan pemikiran kritis melalui telaah teoretis dan empiris, serta menawarkan implikasi pedagogis bagi pengembangan pendidikan matematika yang lebih bermakna dan berdaya saing di abad ke-21.
